Parenting has a great bearing on the personality of children. The foundation of personality laid down in tender age continues with child long after the passage of childhood. The kind of parental care a child has received shapes his behavior afterwards. As per some recent studies, children with bad parenting are more likely to take to drugs and alcohol as compared to those who have got excellent parental care.

If the child has received love and affection from his parents the chances of his becoming a well behaved citizen is more. The children raised with more warmth and discipline are less likely to develop addiction to drugs and alcohol.

Some experts suggest that parents should maintain a warm and loving relationship with children in their early stage. And there should be a discipline and vigil on their behavior in their teenage years.

Parents are advised to set standard behavior patterns and children should be encouraged to follow them. The parents should refrain from getting drunk and indulging in immoral behaviors in front of their children to avoid a wrong precedent. The parents are also advised to not to overlook the casual delinquent behavior of their children.
