Chinese giant Xiaomi is launching its much awaited Realme U1 in India on November 28. Promoted as a ‘Selfie Pro’, this model powered by Helio P70 platform is being offered to the Indian market as an Amazon exclusive. Interestingly, this is closely on the heels of the Indian launch of Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro on 22 November.

Realme U1 is reportedly the world’s first smartphone supported by the latest MediaTek Helio P70 Mobile Platform. A powerful front-facing camera is a given for this model befitting its USP as a ‘Selfie Pro’.

Coming with enhanced AI and strengthened CPU and GPU, MediaTek Helio P70 is the next generation of the Helio P60 Mobile Platform. It is expected that the upgrade will enable better all-round performance, more capable cameras, greater connection speeds and improved power consumption.

This is what MediaTek says about the upgraded mobile platform: "Built with TSMC’s 12nm FinFET technology, the Helio P70 features a multi-core APU operating at up to 525 MHz for fast and efficient edge-AI processing. To maximize the performance of demanding AI applications, the chipset packs four Arm Cortex-A73 2.1 GHz processors and four Arm Cortex-A53 2.0 GHz processors in an octa-core big.LITTLE configuration. For an additional power boost, the chipset has an improved Arm Mali-G72 MP3 GPU operating at up to 900 MHz, which provides a 13 percent performance improvement compared to Helio P60." With these enhanced features, Realme U1 will perform 13% better compared to its predecessor backed by Helio P60.

Here are some of the top features.

  • Improved efficiency enabled by higher clock speeds with ARM Cortex-A73 cores clocking at about 2.1 GHz. Further, the SoC will be supported by ARM Cortex-A53 clocking at 2.0 GHz.
  • High resolution depth mapping performance
  • Great photography: better 24fps visual bokeh, support for real-time HDR capture, and capability to shoot in RAW-domain multi-frame HDR format
  • Hardware Warping that allows Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), which in turn supports AI facial detection and intelligent scene detection for adjustment of color and lighting

For all these power-packed features, the phone is likely to be priced aggressively in the range of INR 12,000-15,000.

The Amazon India exclusive launch will be packed with some attractive launch offers.
