India, US join hands and asked Pakistan to take verifiable action against terror groups operating from Pakistan

Washington: India and United States on Friday jointly urged Pakistan to take verifiable action against the terror groups operating from soil of Pakistan. This is one of the major moves by India and United States to put pressure on Pakistan for taking verifiable action against terrorist group flourishing in Pakistani soil.

India and US urging Pakistan to take meaningful, irreversible and verifiable action against terrorists/terrorist group operating from the soil of Pakistan.

The officials of both the countries met in Washington on 29 March for the sixteenth meeting of the US-India Counterterrorism Joint Working Group.

Both the counties underlined the need of verifiable action by Pakistan against terrorist group operating in Pakistan.

The Indian side was headed by Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Mahaveer Singhvi and from US side it was led by State Department Coordinator for Counterterrorism Ambassador Nathan Sales.

The joint statement issue by both countries says "Both sides underlined the urgent need for Pakistan to take meaningful, irreversible, and verifiable action against terrorists and terrorist groups”.

Both the side discussed counterterrorism cooperation between them and it was resolved to continue close coordination in this regard.

According to the joint statement US emphasized the support for the people and government of India in fight against terrorism.

"Both sides underlined the urgent need for Pakistan to take meaningful, irreversible, and verifiable action against terrorists and terrorist groups. There was a discussion of strengthening cooperation on information sharing and other steps to disrupt the ability of terrorists to travel, consistent with the important provisions and obligations outlined in United Nations Security Council Resolution 2396," says the statement released by US state department.

This statement is considered to be very important for India and it further strengthen US-India tie against terrorism. Both the counties are victim of terrorism originating from Pakistan.

Officials from both the countries further discussed the need of strengthening cooperation on information sharing.

According to the statements officials from both the counties discussed the various challenges counterterrorism in modern era. They discussed about countering the financing and operations of terrorist organisations, terrorist use of the internet, and prosecuting, rehabilitating, and reintegrating returning foreign terrorist fighters.

The United States welcomed India’s effort and participation in the international efforts to counter terrorism finance. According to the statement, official also shared their priorities and procedures for pursuing sanctions designations against terrorist groups and individuals.

Recently China blocked the move of India to designate Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist. Many times in past China blocked India’s move to designate designate Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist.

At this movement joint statement by India and US is of high importance. India is trying hard to designate Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist.

Recently, United State brought a draft resolution in UN Security Council which is proposing designating Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist.

Last  month in February India lost over 40 CRPF personal when JeM terrorist attacked CRPF convoy with an explosive-laden vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama.

India, US, France and Germany along with other partners are trying for blacklisting Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist. But China is only country which is opposing this move and stopping India in its effort.
